Summer innovation camp concludes with the webinar “Advanced Essentials: SBIRs/STTRs” on August 20, 2009 at 1 pm in the VDC Presentation Room.

The SBIR/STTR program is a highly specialized form of funding for those performing cutting-edge R&D that addresses the nation’s most critical innovation needs. Several faculty at UMass Boston, in Chemistry, Physics, Environmental Science and Gerontology as well as firms in the VDC, such as Anthurium Solutions and GeoMed Analytical, are taking advantage of this funding. So can you. Check out current federal funding solicitations.

This webinar is part of a popular series of webinars regarding intellectual property and research commercialization. Sometimes commercialization is the only way to widely diffuse research results, with the added benefit of receiving an income stream. The webinar information assists attendees in making informed decisions of how to better plan commercialization efforts, be it through employment, licensing, consulting, joint venturing or start up creation. Each lecture is 90-minutes long with a live Q&A. There will be expert guest speakers for each session.

The webinar is sponsored by the National Institutes of Health, National Science Foundation, National Institute of Standards and Technology and National Council of Entrepreneurial Tech Transfer.

The previous four webinars this summer covered: Commercialization Methods: Employment, Licensing, Consulting, Joint Venturing and Startup, Fundamental Essentials: Tech Transfer and Licensing Agreements, Fundamental Essentials: Consulting Agreements, and Advanced Essentials: Business Entities.
